Bringing together non-believers …
Yesterday I took my son from the moms place to come and spend the weekend with me. My son lives with the mom. I pay his school fees, attend to his medical needs, etc. The mom is a Muslim.
Now, a while back, I learnt that my son goes to Madras. I have never had a problem with this. I mean, the mom wants the child to have a religious foundation. Whatever that means.
So this morning, the mom calls me and tells me that the Sheikhs at Madras was asking why Barrack has not attended Madras today. I tell the mom to tell the Sheikh that I, the father, am with Barrack.
Now this is where it gets interesting. The mom tells me that the Sheikh is not happy. Not happy????? The Muslim cleric is not happy that Barrack has not attended Madras this Sunday? I find it strange that the mom can not explain to this Sheikh guy that the son is with the father. She is worried that my son, the son of the President of Atheists in Kenya, has missed Madras. Why? Because he is spending time with the father.
This annoyed me. It pissed me off!!!
I am supposed to justify to some goddamn Sheikh guy, who I don’t know, why my son is not at the mosque reciting the Quran.
So the mom gives me the Sheikhs number. I call the Sheikh and tell him that Barrack, my son will never step in Madras. Ever.
My son tells me that they are frequently beaten to recite the Quran. Why beat a child to recite such a book? A book that teaches that Mohammed is a prophet of some God? That heaven has virgins? That Jihad is acceptable. That Mecca is important. Isn’t that child abuse? What would you do?
