Bringing together non-believers …
Religion came from the ignorant. It was a desperate measure to answer everything that couldn’t be explained at that time. Our ancestors were not equipped to explain the logic behind Rain, lightning, movement of sun etc. Hence they imagined that supernatural powers were responsible for the same leading to imagination of a superior beings who controls a particular phenomenon (as in pagans) or everything (as in relatively modern faiths), named god.
Accepting the existance of a higher controling body made men blame everything beyond their control on gods.
The concept must have further extended into religion by inclusion of social do’s and donts in order to invoke fear of constant scrutiny amongst men, that they are being watched by a power superior to them and their deeds shall be rewarded accordingly. As they didn’t have means to spread law for a mass of people, fear turned out to be the best way to harness people.
