Bringing together non-believers …
The interesting question is, why isn’t it important?
It’s important for us for the same reason if your neighbor tells you that he has an invisible, purple dragon living in his garage you don’t believe him.
We are used to rejecting claims that are not backed up by objective evidence, the more extraordinary the claim, the more extraordinary evidence we usually want to see. Theists have just been trained (by themselves) to treat their God claim differently from everything else.
The problem is that from a rational point of view there is no reason to do that and if you don’t you will have to reject the claim due to lack of evidence.
