Bringing together non-believers …
This is the most insane promise someone can ever make in life. Marriage is an agreement between two people to coexist in love. There’s nothing special about it but religious doctrines have made marriage a hell for some people.
In my view, marriage, as an agreement, should come with a disclaimer: If at anytime we find out that we cannot continue with our friendship, we have all the rights to separate our own ways. See human beings are the partners in marriage agreements and human beings change with time. There’s no reason whatsoever why a marriage should continue where for example:
Humans evolved to inculcate marriage into their way of life and not the other way round. So we should learn to put a stop where the union is no longer progressing. Some religious leaders counsel women especially, to remain in problematic marriage which sometimes eventually takes their lives. Marriage is not a do-or-die relationship. If I cannot cope with a marriage anymore, I should have absolute right to seek termination.
