Some women should never get children!

In today’s society, being a parent is not something to take lightly. The future of Kenya rests in large part on the role that the parents play in their children’s lives. Just as getting married should carry with it a lot of serious thought and questioning, so should having a child.

Too often, people have children for all the wrong reasons: their parents are begging for grandchildren, their biological clocks and the continuation of their ncomingoutame determines the decision; their religion does not allow for birth control and, perhaps most often, their hormones got the better of them and they were not protected. Now, the following categories of people in my view should not get kids:

  • If you are jobless, do not get a kid. Kenya does not have social welfare. Get a stable job first, or look for a sustainable way in which you will raise the kid.
  • If you have a medical condition that will affect your child, just do not bother. Why bring to the world a kid with medical issues?
  • If you are working, but do not have time for parenting, don’t bother. Why bring a child into the world, and you leave her with the house girl to bring up?
  • Some folks are just not good at being mothers. If you fall in this category, please forget it.
  • Do you do drugs, and other narcotics? Are you a prostitute? Do not get kids. Kids do not need this exposure at an early age.

Kenyans, lets think. Kids are our future, we can protect them before they are born!
